Birmingham, AL – The Gulf South Conference announced the spring All-Academic teams and Honor Roll honorees for the spring of 2020. Shorter was well represented this year, with a total of 74 students on the GSC's Honor Roll and two Hawks made the All-Academic team. Two teams were represented on the All-Academic roster, Baseball and Women's Golf.
On the Honor Roll Baseball had 19 members make the list, Softball had 18, Men's Golf had 6, Women's Golf had 8, Women's Lacrosse had 10, Men's Tennis had 7 and Women's Tennis had 6.
Bailey Gerstner was named to the Baseball Spring All-Academic Team, a Senior, studying Marketing. Gerstner finished the semester with a 4.0 GPA.
Madison Sanders was named to the Women's Golf Spring All-Academic team, a Senior, studying Nursing. Sanders finished the semester with a 3.53 GPA.
To be eligible for All-Academic team honors, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and cannot be a freshman or a first-year transfer; other factors include leadership, service, and extracurricular involvement. The members are then selected based on a conference-wide vote by the league's Sports Information Directors or Faculty Athletic Representatives. There is no vote for Honor Roll honorees; all students with a 3.0 or better that have competed against outside competition are recognized.
