Not a great a start to the game as Shorter Hawks faced off against the Rockhurst Hawks. Shorter had a hard time defending the nationally ranked opponent Rockhurst. Shorter allowed 9 goals in the first quarter of the game. Rockhurst came into the game firing on all cylinders. They had 27 shot attempts during the first quarter. They were trying to set the tone early to let Shorter know that they wanted to dominate them. Shorter Hawks did not give up! Senior
Chadd Halili scored two spontaneous goals with assist
from Jordan Coates and
Trey Edge.
The second quarter began with similar insolence from Rockhurst. Scoring 8 goals! Team leader
Kai Trujillo gave his team a spark early to take the early lead. Shorter still had the desire and appetite to come back. The momentum had died down for Rockhurst; it was time for some retaliation. Rockhurst energy faded but that did not stop them from scoring 5 more goals in the third quarter. Shorter filled with frustration and doubt but still play their hearts out until the final buzzer. The fourth came and Shorter had only one more opportunity to get on board. Senior
Chris Woodard scored a goal to break the run. The final score 23-4. This has been a tough season for out Shorter hawks. They are optimistic about the next match up against REINHARDT University.
