ROME- Jordan Coates was announced by
Marty Ziesemer on Tuesday as the head coach of the Shorter Men's Lacrosse team.
Ziesemer remarked, "On behalf of Shorter and the athletic department, we are pleased to welcome Shorter alum Jordan Coates back to campus as our men's lacrosse coach. His experience as a coach and his love for Shorter are a great combination for him to lead the Hawks"
Coates comes from Point University, where he led the SkyHawks from 2021-2026. At Point, Coates saw the development of the program as a whole, having improvement year by year, with this past season being his best year, going 8-8 overall. Before Point, he served as an assistant at Monmouth College during the 2020 season, where he helped lead the Scots to a 4-2 record before the season was canceled due to COVID.
Before his time at Monmouth, Coates had a standout career for the Hawks from 2014-19, where he appeared in 42 games, recording 36 goals, 45 points, and 71 groundballs.
"I want to thank Athletic Director Marty Ziesemer and President Dr. Don Dowless for the opportunity to lead the men's lacrosse program at Shorter University", said Coates. "It means a lot to come back to my alma mater and give back to a program that played a major role in my life. I look forward to working alongside our student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff."
Coates is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and is looking to make an impact on Shorter Lacrosse.
