Clinton, Miss. --Â After two days on competition the Hawks are in third with 45 points; while the Lady Hawks sit in fifth with 26 points.
Shorter's only points on the men's side Friday came in the decathlon as
Lane Fletcher took top honors to tally 10 points. In the day's five events, he won both the pole vault with a height of 4.17m and the 1500m with a time of 5:01.87. In total, for the ten events, he was first in five to maintain the lead throughout and finish with a total of 6141 points.
For the women,
Tanzanie Brown finished second in the high jump to add eight points as she cleared the bar at 1.68m. While, in the triple jump, the Lady Hawks added seven points with
Yamara Robinson and
Promise Clark finishing in fifth and sixth, respectively, with jumps of 11.49m and 11.14m.
A lot of points still remain up for grabs as the competition concludes Saturday from Clinton, Miss. Notably, the Hawks are guaranteed to have three points scorers in the 100m finals; while half of the field for the women's 100m will be Lady Hawks. Â
