ROME -- Despite a late comeback the Lady Hawks fell to West Florida 59-56 Monday afternoon in their final home game of 2015.
Shorter moves to 6-2 on the year and 2-2 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Argos improve to 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in the GSC.
The teams matched each other point for point over the first wo tquarters, with the Lady Hawks holding a narrow 24-22 lead at the break. And after opening the third quarter trading baskets, the Argos began pulling away as Bell Bistrow netted a jumper with 3:22 to go in the period to spark a 9-3 run to take a 44-37 advantage into the final ten minutes.
West Florida added to their lead in the fourth quarter, making it a 12 point game with 4:35 to go, but the Lady Hawks stepped up. Tallying a 13-4 run over the final four minutes to pull to within a possession as time expired, taking the loss 59-56.
Taylor Adams led the Lady Hawks on both sides of the ball, turning in a game 18 points, while adding 11 rebounds - 7 defensive - for her fifth double-double of the year and third straight.
Tamarr Williams added 8 points for Shorter, while
Jackie Hudson posted nine rebdound.
Shorter will look to get back into the win column Thursday when they travel to Huntsville, Ala. for a 6:30pm eastern start at Alabama Huntsville.
