Lady Hawks top Alabama Huntsville, 60-47

Huntsville, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks got back into the win column Thursday evening, topping Alabama Huntsville 60-47 on the road.

Shorter improves to 6-2 on the year and 3-2 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Chargers fall to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

The Lady Hawks jumped out in front early in the first quarter, using an 11-4 run to pull away, taking a 21-12 lead into the second quarter; where they added to it, building their lead to 12 when Shaundricka Mann netted a pair of free throws with 2:56 to go. The Chargers closed out the frame, however, with six unanswered points, cutting the Lady Hawks lead to six at the halftime break.

Shorter opened the third quarter with a 6-0 run to bring their lead back to 12 as Taylor Adams netted a layup with 6:38 to go in the quarter; maintaining the advantage throughout the remainder of the period. In the final ten minutes the Lady Hawks kept the momentum, adding to their lead, and leading by as many as 16 when Tamarr Williams scored on a layup with just seconds to play.

Adams led Shorter with 15 points in the game, 13 coming after halftime. While Mann just missed a double-double with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Williams added 11 points for the Lady Hawks, while Kayla Tillie dished out a season high 7 assists.

The Lady Hawks will look to keep things going as they travel to North Alabama Saturday afternoon for a 2:00pm eastern start.
