WLAX falls to Mount Olive, 11-6

Box Score Mount Olive, N.C.--The Lady Hawks have fallen into a tough patch as of late, dropping the last three games; most recently, an 11-6 decision to Mount Olive Saturday evening.

The loss moves Shorter to 3-6 overall on the season.

Mount Olive took the lead 1-0 with 26:01 to play. The Lady Hawks answered to tie the game as Mia Wigging scored the first of three goals in the game at the 17:57 mark. Mount Olive regained the lead less than a minute later, and went on a 5-0 run to end the frame; taking a 6-1 lead into halftime.

Shorter scored five times in the second half, and cut the lead to 4 points multiple times, but couldn't push any closer as Mount Olive also scored five goals in the half to earn the win 11-6.

Wiggins finished with a game high three goals, while Shelby Beverly (2) and Katie Ott (1) each scored.

Taylor Moody played the complete game in goal for the Lady Hawks making 11 saves on 22 shots faced.

Mount Olive outshot Shorter 31-10 in the game, held the advantage 22-11 in groundballs, and won 10 of 19 draws.

The Lady Hawks will be back in action from Ben Brady Field Monday afternoon at 5:00pm to take on Midland University.
