Hawks, Lady Hawks begin pool play at NCCAA Nationals Monday

Kissimmee, Fla. -- Monday, December 1, the Hawks and Lady Hawks will open pool play at the 2014 NCCAA National Championship. Shorter's men enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed after earning an at-large bid, while the women – despite winning the South Region – will be the No. 9 seed for the women's tournament.

The Hawks will be in Pool C with No. 4 Bethel College and No. 7 Bluefield College. And the Lady Hawks take on Pool A along with No. 1 Grace College and No. 6 Mid-America Christian University.

On the slate first for the men will be Bluefield College; who enter the tournament with an 18-3 record and having earned the final at-large bid. Game time is set for 7:00pm. Shorter will then have a day off before taking on Bethel College – the North Central Region's champion and with a 9-8-1 season record – Wednesday, December 3, also at 7:00pm.

For the women, Monday's match up will feature a 2:00pm game against Grace College; who along with earning the top seed, won the Midwest Region, and enters with a 14-4-3 overall record. Tuesday, December 2, also at 2:00pm the Lady Hawks take on Mid-America Christian University; the Central Region's champion, who enters tournament play with a 13-6 record.

The winners of each of the three pools, along with a wild card team will advance into the semifinals which will be held on December 5. The championship game is then set for December 6.

Fellow Gulf South Conference members, Lee University and Mississippi College also earned berths in the men's tournament with MC earning the top seed after winning the Mid-East Region, and Lee secured the second at-large bid and the fifth seed. On the women's side, Lee comes in as the No. 2 seed after capturing the Mid-East Region title.
