FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.- The Shorter Men's Soccer team fell to Emmanuel Wednesday night in a 1-0 loss, dropping the Hawks to 2-7-2 overall and 1-6-2 in conference.
The Hawks faced a multitude of shots early into the contest, but managed to hold off the attack. Emmanuel broke through in the 26th minute to take the 1-0 lead. Shorter continued to battle, but struggled to generate offense due to strong defense from the opposition as they entered the final frame down a goal.
Shorter continued to fight as the second half moved forward, facing more shots as the Lions continued to attack. The Hawks were able to generate some offense late, but could not find the back of the net, falling in a tough 1-0 defeat.
"Another tough loss", said Head Coach Roberto Hernandez. "Super proud of the boys, they fought hard even with a man down. They showed a lot of promising moments to push the tide and they had Emmanuel on their heels a couple of times. We have to learn to continue to not hurt ourselves with red cards. We are ready to bounce back and are looking to impress against nationally ranked Lees-McRae on Saturday.
