Central, S.C.--It may have taken all five sets, but when it was all said and done Shorter's volleyball team came away victorious Tuesday evening; defeating Southern Wesleyan on the road, 3-2.
The win evens the Lady Hawks at 4-4 on the season, and ends a four match slide.
Shorter won the first set, but dropped the second to even things at 1-1. Winning the third set, gave the Lady Hawks the 2-1 advantage, but Southern Wesleyan was right there to take the fourth and force the tie breaker. Set scores were 25-17, 17-25, 25-20, 21-25, and 15-12, respectively.
Jasmine Crook finished the match with double digit totals in both kills (11) and digs (15); while
Anna Graham chipped in with 19 kills, and
Erica Baker recorded 17.
Tanequa Whitman and
Elizabeth Dowd led Shorter in digs over the five sets; Whitman with 19, Dowd with 18.
Cheyenne Frady recorded a team high in assists with 28.
Dena Pierce added 27 assists in the match, as well as, recording 16 digs.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm as they travel to Valdosta State for a Gulf South Conference matchup.
