ROME--Shorter volleyball faced off against Bryan College Tuesday evening in the second meeting of the two teams this season. Earlier this year the Lions topped the Lady Hawks 3-1, but this time around it was Shorter who came out victorious, with a 3-1 win on the home court.

The win, the fifth in a row, improves the Lady Hawks to 16-9 on the season; while, Bryan moved to 29-3 overall.

Shorter took the lead 2-0, with 25-15 and 25-23 wins, respectively, in the first two sets. Bryan cut the lead in half with a 25-21 victory in the third set, but Shorter closed things out with a 25-18 win in set four to take the match 3-1.

Jasmine Crook and Elizabeth Dowd led the Lady Hawks with 11 kills each. Dowd also recorded 20 digs, and Crook chipped in with 10.

Tanequa Whitman posted a match high 27 digs for Shorter during the four sets.

And, Cheyenne Frady dished out 22 assists, while Dena Pierce added 20.

The Lady Hawks will return to Gulf South Conference action Friday as Christian Brothers visits the Winthrop-King Centre for a 7:00pm start.
