ROME--Saturday Shorter volleyball faced off against fellow Gulf South Conference provisional member Union University, and came out on top 3-0. The win improves the Lady Hawks to 18-9 on the season, and 10-5 in conference play; the victory also served as Shorter's seventh in a row.
The Lady Hawks earned the straight set victory with set wins of 25-17, 25-12, and 25-17, respectively.
During the match
Anna Graham led the attack for Shorter; posting 14 kills. On the receiving end, the Lady Hawks had four players in double-digit digs.
Elizabeth Dowd recorded 16,
Jasmine Crook earned 12, and both
Dena Pierce and
Tanequa Whitman had 10 each.
Pierce also recorded a match high 21 assists, and
Cheyenne Frady chipped in with 14 over the three sets.
The Lady Hawks will wrap up their home slate for the season on Tuesday, November 12, as GSC newcomer Lee University visits the Winthrop-King Centre at 7:00pm. Shorter's four seniors will be honored prior to the game, as well.
