Volleyball extends streak to three with win over Union

Jackson, Tenn.--Shorter volleyball extended its win streak to three games Saturday afternoon as they defeated conference foe Union, 3-2.

The win improves the Lady Hawks to 7-5 on the season, and 3-3 in the Gulf South Conference.

After dropping the first set, 18-25, Shorter came back to take the lead 2-1; winning the second set, 25-14, and the third, 25-16. Union evened the match at two each by taking set four, 25-23. The Lady Hawks earned the win; winning the final set by a 15-7 score.

Jasmine Crook and Elizabeth Dowd each recorded double-digit kills and digs for the match. Crook with 12 kills and 12 digs, and Dowd with 10 kills and 20 digs. Erica Baker chipped in with 10 kills on the day.

Tanequa Whitman earned 25 digs over the five sets. Dena Pierce recorded 22 assists, while Cheyenne Frady added 25.

The Lady Hawks will host a set of conference matches with Alabama Huntsville and North Alabama on Tuesday, October 8, and Friday, October 11, at the Winthrop-King Centre on the campus of Shorter University.
