Memphis, Tenn.--Shorter Volleyball earned its second conference win in as many matches tonight on the road at Christian Brothers. The Lady Hawks defeated the Lady Bucs 3-1.
The win improves Shorter to 6-5 on the season, and 2-3 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers moves to 4-9 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Shorter got off to a good start winning the first two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-19, respectively. The Lady Bucs cut the lead in half; winning the third set 25-21. However, the Lady Hawks were able to secure the win by taking set four, 25-18.
Dena Pierce finished the match with 17 assists and 16 digs.
Cheyenne Frady led Shorter with 21 assists.
Jasmine Crook and
Erica Baker each posted double-digit kill counts, Crook with 13 and Baker with 11.
Tanequa Whitman finished with a team high 18 digs.
Shorter continues the road trip tomorrow as they travel to Union University for the Gulf South match-up with the Lady Bulldogs. Match is set to begin at 2:00pm eastern.
