ROME--The Lady Hawks defeated Columbus State, 3-0, Tuesday evening at home in a non-conference volleyball matchup. Match scores were 25-18, 25-20, and 26-24, respectively.
The win improves the team to 13-9 on the season.
It was all Shorter through the first two sets, as the Lady Hawks led the entire time. The Cougars, however, mounted a comeback in the final set in hopes of extending the match. During the set the score was tied 14 times, and the lead changed eight.
Jasmine Crook recorded a match high 14 digs over the three sets, while
Tanequa Whitman chipped in with 13, and
Elizabeth Dowd added 12.
Erica Baker led the team in kills with 10, Crook added 9, and
Anna Graham recorded eight.
Dena Pierce dished out 24 assists during the match, and
Cheyenne Frady added 10.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action at the Winthrop-King Centre on Friday as they turn their attention back to the GSC for a match with West Georgia beginning at 7:00pm.
