Volleyball falls to Lee, 3-1

Cleveland, Tenn.--
The Lady Hawks fell to Lee, 3-1, in Gulf South Conference volleyball action from Cleveland, Tenn. Tuesday night.

For the first time since the Lady Flames began the transition process to the NCAA Div. II, the two teams who were rivals in the NAIA's Southern States Athletic Conference, took to the court as conference rivals once again.

Match scores were 25-17, 16-25, 25-17, and 25-23; with Shorter taking set two.

The loss drops the Lady Hawks to 9-6 overall, and 5-4 in Gulf South play. Lee improves to 9-5 on the season, and 6-3 in the conference.

Cheyenne Frady and Dena Pierce each recorded 18 assists in the match for Shorter. While, Tanequa Whitman and Elizabeth Dowd chipped in with 13 and 11 digs a piece, respectively.

Erica Baker posted a team high 12 kills over the four sets.

Camil Martinez turned in a match high 33 assists for the Lady Flames.

Shorter volleyball will be back in action this weekend as they take part in the GSC/SSC Crossover Tournament hosted by West Georgia. Play begins Friday morning at 11:30 am against Lynn University, followed by a 4:30 pm match up with Saint Leo. Saturday's matches will feature a 11:30 am contest against Nova Southeastern, and at 4:30 pm the Lady Hawks will take on Rollins College to finish out tournament play.
