CALERA, Ala. – The Shorter women's golf team wrapped up the opening day of the Full Moon BBQ Invitational in fourth place after 36 holes of competition at Timberline Golf Club. The Hawks posted team rounds of 306 and 317 for a two-round total of 623 (+55). 

 

Hayden Price led the way for Shorter, carding rounds of 75 (+4) and 73 (+2) to finish the day tied for fifth place individually with a 36-hole score of 148 (+6). 

 

Taylor Young also turned in a solid performance, opening with a 74 (+3) before posting an 80 (+9) in the second round. Her two-round total of 154 (+12) places her tied for 14th heading into the tournament's final round. 


Ava Lynn and Kentyn Clark each finished the day tied for 25th after matching 36-hole totals of 161 (+19). Lynn posted rounds of 78 (+7) and 83 (+12), while Clark carded a 79 (+8) followed by an 82 (+11). Cadey Maness rounded out the Hawks' scoring lineup, improving by five strokes between rounds with an 87 (+16) in the opening round and an 82 (+11) in the afternoon session to finish at 169 (+27). As a team, Shorter sits fourth in the eight-team field, trailing tournament leader Mississippi Christian (585) and second-place Montevallo (596) after the first day of action.
