Men's Soccer Falls to Emmanuel in 5-2 Final

ROME, Ga.- The Shorter Men's Soccer team suffered a 5-2 defeat Wednesday night at the hands of Emmanuel at Ben Brady Field.

The visitors wasted no time, taking the lead in the second minute with a goal. Shorter responded soon after, as Joao Beer flipped it over the head of his defender to Austin Cornett, who notched his second goal of the season to bring Shorter back in it. The Lions continued to play aggressively and were able to retake the lead on a goal in the 19th minute. The Hawks battled hard and were able to prevent the visitors from scoring for the rest of the period, entering halftime behind 2-1.

Shorter started the second half on a high note as Issac Cruz converted on a goal in the 50th minute to even the score; unfortunately, less than ten seconds later, the Lions found the back of the net to reclaim the lead. Both teams continued to play physically, as multiple fouls were drawn. The Hawks continued to fight, but could not contain the visitor's offense, as they allowed two more goals, falling in a 5-2 defeat.
