ROME, Ga.- The Shorter Women's Soccer team fell Saturday afternoon to Chowan in a 6-3 defeat at Ben Brady Field.
The Hawks fall to 1-4 overall on the season.
The Hawks dominated the opening minutes, as
Gianna Estavillo found the back of the net off a feed from
Evann Yake to take the early advantage. Shorter continued to roll, as Lexi Day scored her first goal as a Hawk thanks to a mishandle from the Chowan goalkeeper to put the Hawks ahead 2-0. The visitors quickly changed the momentum, scoring two goals within five minutes to even it before the half.
The Hawks were able to reclaim the lead early in the second half, as Estavillo found the net once again off a penalty kick. Unfortunately for Shorter, Chowan's offense exploded for four goals, putting the Hawks out of reach as they fell in a 6-3 defeat. Despite the result, the Hawks' three goals is the most they have had in a game since the 2023 season.
