PEMBROKE, N.C.- In their first of three games against #24 UNC Pembroke, the Shorter Hawks fell in a 14-3 final Friday night. The loss drops the Hawks to 11-17 overall and 3-16 in conference.
Shorter would plate the first runner in the second inning following a double-steal that allowed Isaiah Sims to take home, but the Braves countered in the third with an RBI fielder's choice. Jonathan Vigoa gave the Hawks the lead back in the fourth with an RBI double down the left-field line to send in Josh Tattershall and Brooks McKenna, making it 3-1 Hawks. These would be the last runs Shorter would score, however, as UNC Pembroke went on an offensive tear through the rest of the game with a pair of homers powering the 14-3 final.
