FERRUM, Va.- The Hawks struggled to contain the Panthers Saturday afternoon, falling in a 99-79 defeat.
The hosts got things going quickly, jumping out to a 16-4 lead thanks to hot shooting from their end. Shorter managed to trim the lead down to 11, but struggled to keep up with the Panthers offense as they entered the break behind 61-35.
As the second frame rolled around, the Panthers continued to dominate. Shorter continued to fight, but it would not be enough as they fell in a 99-79 defeat.
Shorter shot well as a team, hitting on an even 28-56 (50%) from the field.
Ja'Myas Davis led with 19 points and seven rebounds, while
Donovan Shangase finished with 17.
Chris Bibbs rounded at the Hawks with 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
UP NEXT
The Hawks will remain on the road as they look ahead to Young Harris for a 7:00 PM tip-off on Tuesday.
