ROME- The Hawks closed out their final home game at the WKC with emphasis as they blew by UNC Pembroke in a 70-51 win Saturday afternoon.
After falling behind 9-4, the Shorter offense got kick-started with nine straight coming from
Amiya Redus before
Chelsy Singleton put her stamp of approval on a three at the horn to give the Hawks a 16-9 lead.
The Braves began to show life, cutting the lead to three before the Hawks went on an 8-0 run run with
Aijah Manning and
Amiya Redus trading baskets. Shorter continued to control the narrative, with Redus leading the way with 20 first-half points as Shorter entered the half ahead 35-24.
The Hawks kept their foot on the gas as the second half began, extending their lead to as much as 16 in the third.
Jordan Kierbow got the Hawks rolling at the start of the fourth, scoring on back-to-back layups. Shorter kept going, with
Ashley Washington connecting on a three-pointer late to extend the Shorter lead. The Hawks cruised the rest of the way, downing the Braves in a 70-51 win.
The Hawks shot an even 29-58 (50%) from the field as
Amiya Redus led all scorers with 26 points.
Chelsy Singleton contributed with 15 points and three steals, and
Aijah Manning finished with a solid eight points and six boards.
UP NEXT
The Hawks will close out the regular season as they face Erskine in a 5:00 PM tip-off this Tuesday.
