Box Score ROME, Ga.- The Shorter men's soccer team fell at home to Bob Jones in their regular season opener in a 5-2 final.  

The Hawks struggled out of the gate as the Bruins got on the board quickly at the 8:52 mark to take the 1-0 lead. Shorter continued to struggle to contain the Bruins fiery offense as they allowed three more goals, falling behind 4-0 at the 30:49 mark. Ricky Peinado breathed life into the Hawks as he converted on a goal to make it a 4-1 affair. The Hawks continued to fight back and would inch within two after a Charles Garcia goal in the 35th minute. 

Shorter was able to slow down the Bruins offense as the second half began, and managed to find themselves offensively by creating multiple scoring opportunities. Both teams battled in the second half, with strong and physical defense being a major theme. Shorter continued to play hard but would fall in a 5-2 final as the Bruins tacked in one more goal in the final seconds.
