CENTRAL, S.C.- The Shorter women's soccer team fell 1-0 in a tight battle on the road against Southern Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks and Warriors battled in the early going, with no team able to get the ball in the net.
Karis Eccleston once again did well in goal, recording nine saves for the Hawks. Shorter's defense held strong late in the second half despite their offensive struggles, preventing the Warriors from capitalizing on opportunities. Southern Wesleyan eventually would strike in the 78th minute as they took a 1-0 lead. The Hawks continued to be resilient, but struggled to convert, falling in a 1-0 final.
This drops the Hawks to 1-4-0 on the season and to 0-4-0 in conference play.
