ROME, Ga. –The Shorter women's soccer team fell Saturday morning to King in their conference opener in a 3-0 final.
The match started with back-and-forth play by both teams, but the it would be the Tornado that would strike first, scoring in the 13th minute. Shorter held strong despite the strong rally from King, but would let up a last second goal at the end of the half to take the 2-0 lead.
The Hawks faced a flurry of shots by King in the second half, as the Tornado attempted 19 total. Karis Eccleston had a solid showing, recording a season-high 16 saves for the Hawks. The Tornado tacked on one more goal in the 80th minute to make it a 3-0 final.

Shorter will be on the road to continue conference play and travel to Due West, South Carolina to face Erskine College next Wednesday (Sept. 17th) at 1:00pm ET.
