ROME, Ga.- The Shorter volleyball team started out their season with a statement 3-0 victory over Clark Atlanta Wednesday night.

The Hawks got off to a quick start in the opening set, taking a 5-2 lead. The Panthers kept it close, until the Hawks scored seven unanswered to take a 14-7 lead at the midway point of the set. Shorter continued to show poise and control for the remainder of the set, taking it 25-17.

The Panthers showed resilience in set two, keeping close with the Hawks for most of the set. The Hawks managed to maintain control despite the Panthers push and would take the second set 25-21.

Shorter displayed real dominance in what would be the final set, running away with it early on, leading 15-4 at the halfway point. The Hawks kept their foot on the gas, taking down the Panthers in the final set 25-13.

Victoria Sparks led all players with 10 kills as
Caroline Sivills added eight and
Adalyn Stewart with seven.
Helena Kelley led the Hawks in assists with 18 with
Brooke Thao recording 10 to combine for 28 out of Shorter's 35 assists on the night. Shorter had an all-around effort defensively as
Caitlyn Sutton led the way with 11 digs.

Helena Kelley, and
Victoria Sparks each recorded eight to go alongside.

The Hawks will travel to Valdosta, Georgia this weekend where they will face Valdosta State in the opening round of Valdosta State's 2025 Fall Tournament that will occur from the 12
th through the 13
th.
