ROME, Ga. — Shorter Women's Basketball continues their historic run with a win during the Conference Carolina Tournament against North Greenville on Monday Night. This is the first time since 2015 that the program has made a post season appearance.
The Hawks, the No. 6 seed, hosted and beat No. 12 North Greenville 53-36 Tuesday night, advancing them to the quarterfinals of the tournament, which will be held at Wofford University this March 7
th- 9
th. Shorter will play No. 3 Chowan in the quarterfinals Friday at 1:30 PM.

LaSheena Brooks said. "Their hard work has paid off. They trusted and believed in the process."
The Hawks trailed 14-13 after one quarter but outscored the Trailblazers 21-8 in the second frame. Behind the play of

Brooks said her team began to play "their way" after the first ten minutes, which allowed it to break away.
"Our intensity changed," she said. "We like to be more up-tempo and dominant on the defensive end. I think we started a little slow, but once we found our groove – we pretty much took off from there."
The Hawks run didn't just stop there, they do not trail in the final 29:48 and led by at least 10 points in the final 25:44.
In addition to a faster pace, Shorter also benefited from a spotlight second quarter from senior forward
Lewis. Lewis played only 5:40 of the second period, but scored nine points and didn't miss a shot.
"Tonight, it happened to be her night. She was hitting everything," Brooks said. "That kid is very good; she's been with us for four years and she understands the importance of this moment."
Lewis finished the game with 26 points, the most she's scored in a game this season, on 11-for-17 shooting. She also collected 14 rebounds, making Tuesday's win her 10th double-double of the season.

Grant contributed 9 points. The Hawks shot 14-15 from the free throw line which is also a team season high of 93%.
