Redus' 41 Elevates Hawks over Flager

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- Amiya Redus poured in a Hawks' DII era record 41 points to lead them over Flagler in a 93-88 victory inside of Flagler Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
 

The Hawks started off hot with a steal from Amiya Redus, leading to a foul and a pair of free throws from Amya Patterson to put them up 2-0. Shorter controlled the first half, playing great defense, causing Flagler to have 11 turnovers in the first 20 minutes of action The Hawks crashed the boards as well, totaling 19 in the half. The Hawks led 45-33 as they entered the half, with Redus scoring 17 of her 41 in the first half. 
 

The second half began, and the Hawks continued their hot streak, going on a 12- 4 run with seven minutes to go in the third. Amiya Redus had a great performance in the second half alone, scoring 24 points and going 92% from the charity stripe. The Scots made a push in the late minutes of the fourth quarter, but it would not be enough as the Hawks earned their first victory of the season in a 93-88 final. 
 

As a whole, the Hawks shot 58.2% from the field, 56.3% from behind the arc, and a respectable 80% from the free-throw line. Amiya Redus finished with 41 points, eight rebounds, and four steals off 11-for-20 shooting (55%) as well as going 6-for-10 from three (60%) and an impressive 13-of-14 from the charity stripe (92%). Redus' 41 points is the most points scored for the Hawks in the DII era. Aijah Manning recorded her second straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds off an impressive 70% from the field. Chelsy Singleton and Amya Patterson rounded out the Hawks as Singleton finished with 14 and Patterson with 12.
