WILSON, N.C.- The Shorter Hawks continued their winning ways Friday night as they defeated Barton in four sets for their fifth straight win.
The Bulldogs came out with ferocity in the opening set, handling the Hawks comfortably as they took the first set. Shorter responded well in the second set, going back-and-forth with the Bulldogs. After the score stood still at 10, the Hawks went on a commanding 9-1 run that proved to be the difference. The Hawks cruised to the second-set victory to even up the score.Â
The Hawks continued to dominate, as they jumped out to another large lead in the third set to run away with the victory. After falling behind 12-6 in the fourth set, Shorter staged another impressive run to take the lead. The Bulldogs made it interesting, but would fall short as the Hawks scraped by with the win to make it five straight.Â
This marks the Hawks' fifth straight victory, improving their record to 7-5, and 6-1 in conference.Â
Victoria Sparks recorded another triple-double, posting 14 kills, 15 points, and 15 digs.
Caroline Sivills followed closely with nine kills as
Adalyn Stewart added in seven herself.
Helena Kelley led all Hawks with 22 assists as
Brooke Thao dished out 20 herself. Defensively, Shorter put forth a great effort, with four Hawks recording double-digit digs. Alongside
Victoria Sparks' 15 digs,
Caitlyn Sutton recorded 14,
Reaghan Whitlock recorded a season-high 12, and
Claudia Loyola dug out 10 to round out Shorter.Â

The Hawks will have a quick turnaround as they head to Murfreesboro to face Chowan tomorrow at noon.Â
