FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.- The Shorter Women's Soccer team suffered a tough defeat on the road Wednesday night to Emmanuel in a 5-1 final.
The hosts got on the board quickly in just the third minute of action to take an early 1-0 lead. Shorter's offense struggled to find opportunities as the Lions held them to a total of two shots on the day. Emmanuel grabbed another goal in the 21st minute to make it a 2-0 affair. The Hawks kept the Lions out of the goal for the remainder of the period to enter halftime down two scores.
The hosts put the game out of reach early in the second half with goals in the 57th and 72nd minute to extend their lead.
Danilyn Sheats put a dent in the lead with her second goal this season which came in the form of a penalty kick to make it a 4-1 contest. Emmanuel tacked on one more goal late to make it a 5-1 final.
The loss drops Shorter to 1-9-2 overall and 0-8-2 in conference.
