FERRUM, Va.- The Shorter volleyball team made quick work of Ferrum Saturday afternoon, sweeping them for their 10th straight conference win.
The Hawks and Panthers traded points early on, with no side leading by more than two points. Shorter finally pulled ahead late on a 5-2 run to take the first set. Much like the first set, the Panthers kept it close with the Hawks, not allowing them to increase their lead. After an attack error from the Panthers tied it at 18, Shorter closed out the second set on a 7-2 run to gain momentum. The third set proved to be all Shorter, as the Hawks jumped ahead 12-6. The Hawks comfortably cruised to victory for the remainder of the set, earning their 10th straight conference win.
Victoria Sparks posted another triple-double with 13 kills, 13 points, and 12 digs to lead Shorter.
Brooke Thao and
Tori McNair each eclipsed 20 assists as Thao recorded 21 and McNair added 20. Alongside Sparks,
Claudia Loyola added 12 digs to round out the all-around dominance from the Hawks.
The win improves Shorter's record to 14-6 on the season, while also making them 11-1 in conference play.
