ROME, Ga.- The Shorter volleyball team defeated Young Harris Tuesday afternoon in a four-set victory to make it seven straight conference wins. 

The Hawks and Mountain Lions went back and forth early in the opening set. After Young Harris evened it at 15, the Hawks closed out the first set with a commanding 10-3 run to take a 1-0 lead. The second set proved to be a nail-biter, with no side leading by more than two. After the Hawks and Mountain Lions traded points, Shorter edged out the narrow victory as Victoria Sparks and Ava Medina recorded back-to-back kills to give them the win. 

Young Harris came out with more intensity in the third set, scoring four straight to begin. The Mountain Lions controlled the majority of the set, with the Hawks making one last push towards the end that would not be enough as Young Harris forced a fourth set. Shorter took back the momentum with a dominant display in the fourth set. After taking a 14-10 lead, the Hawks went on an 11-1 run to ultimately close out the Mountain Lions as they claimed the fourth set. 

Victoria Sparks posted her sixth triple-double of the season with 13 kills, 13 digs, and 14 points. Two other Hawks recorded double-doubles with Caroline Sivills (11 kills and 11.5 points) and Helena Kelley (16 digs and 13 assists). Brooke Thao added 20 assists alongside nine digs as Cailtyn Sutton added 16 digs herself. 

The win improves Shorter to 12-6 overall, as well as making their conference record 9-1.
