Carrollton, Georgia— The Shorter Hawks Volleyball Squad narrowly loses 2-3 to the University of West Georgia Wolves in their matchup on Saturday, September 23rd. The Lady Hawks rallied back after losing the first set 23-25, winning the second and third sets both with scores of 25-23. Despite losing, the Lady Hawks have several bright spots that shine. Shorter edged out West Georgia in multiple stats - Kills, Aces, Assists, and Digs.
Mary Beth Long posted 14 kills,
Caroline Sivills had 13, and
Victoria Sparks put up 12. Freshman
Mia Alexander had a career high 4 aces in Saturday's sets.
Mary Beth Long also led the Lady Hawks with 5 blocks, followed by
Caroline Beckmann and
Taylor-Reese Howell who both had 3 of their own.
Marysa Ocampo had 22 assists, trailed by the 19
Amelia Thro put up, which is a personal best for her.
Mia Alexander also notably had 20 digs, another career high. The Lady Hawks will be back for competition at home in the Winthrop King Center on Tuesday, September 26th at 6pm versus the Montevallo Falcons.
