ROME, Ga. — The Lady Hawks came up short in their regular season home opener, going 1-3 in sets against the Augusta University Lady Jaguars. The Hawks fell in the first set with a score of 14-25. Shorter rallied in the second set and came out on top with a win of 26-24. Despite a close third set, the Lady Hawks ultimately fell 21-25, and then went on to lose the 4th set 13-25. Caroline Sivillis led the team in kills with a total of 11, followed by
Emily Crocker and
Taylor-Reese Howell, racking up 8 and 7 kills respectively.
Brielle Wood racked up 13 assists, with
Marysa Ocampo trailing closely behind with 12 assists. Ocampo had an impressive night, collecting 2 aces and 9 digs. Abigail Cema led the defense with 11 digs of her own. Caroline Beckman also had 2 blocks, adding to the hawks defensive effort. Despite a strong fight against the Lady Jaguars, the hawks were unable to prevail. The hawks have another chance to snag their first home win this Friday, September 15th at 7:00 pm.
