Spring Football... Faith, Attitude, Toughness, and Effort

Rome, GA –   In the final Mat Drill of the Spring semester the Hawks hit the field Thursday morning.  "They came with a mind to work," stated Head Coach Zach Morrison.  Today was a morning in which every drill was a competition.  "This was a morning that dealt with the pillars of the program, Faith, Attitude, Toughness, and Effort and they proved that they were here to work to be 1% better in every drill.  We had five rounds of work with drills such as bag relay, med ball toss, L-drill, tire-flip, and a bear crawl shuttle," said Morrison.
Offensive Lineman, Jagger Jones spoke of the morning, "I was really proud of my team for finishing the morning 4-1 on the day.  They really came to compete and knew we wanted to get those team points and we were able to do just that." Wide Receivers Coach Ryne Strickland who coached the L-Drill said, "I am proud of how the guys competed.  It felt like as a team we took a huge step forward in competing in all aspects of the program.  I am confident that we will use this momentum going forward."
The Championship Team of the morning was Team Harold Cook, who won all 5 events his team competed in. Harold Cook stated, "We went 5-0 today in competitions today and that is what is expected out of my team everyday and nothing less.  I was really impressed with the work of Hunter Hodson, he is the true definition of a dawg, and I can't wait to strap it up with him on Saturdays this fall.  There is just something bright about this group and the whole GSC is going to know real soon.
Junior, Trey Thomas whose team finished in 3rd overall stated, "The last day was the toughest day for my team, but as a group we realized how powerful our mind really is.  We only had a handful of healthy players who had to step up like never before.  We were able to get the job done today as well as the entire semester." Team Trey Thomas is leading the overall team scores going into Spring Practice.
The Shorter Hawks have brought the "Brick by Brick" mentality this Spring and the coaches, support staff, and student-athletes are excited about practice when they return from Spring Break.  The first practice is slated for the morning of March, 13th.
