RECAP - SPRING KICK-OFF INTERCOLLEGIATE

St. Augustine, FL - The women's golf team competed in the 2023 Spring Kick-Off Intercollegiate. It was hosted by Lincoln Memorial University at the par 72/5,972 yard Golf Club at South Hampton.

The field consisted of 17 teams. The Lady Hawks started strong through round 1 of the 54-hole event, shooting +18 (306). Sophomore Abbie Cheney of Guyton, GA led the Hawks with a score of 73 (+1). After round 1, Shorter University was in 5th place.

Scoring slowed in round 2 and 3. Freshman Kiara Hernandez of Burbank, CA led the Hawks for the remainder of the tournament. Kiara finished in 16th place with rounds of 78-73-76.

The Shorter Hawks shot 306-321-316 to place 9th out of 17 teams. They fell 1 shot shy of tieing Converse University, but managed to beat teams such as Coker, Belmont Abbey, North Greenville, and Barton.

The women's team is back in action this upcoming week at the Battle at Hilton Head. This event is hosted by Barton College at RTJ Palmetto Dunes.
