The Shorter Hawks Men's Soccer team showed bursts of light in the second half. Still, it could not overcome an early goal deficit in a 1-0 defeat to Delta State Friday at Ben Brady Field. 

The Hawks fell behind early when the Statesmen racked up their first and only goal in the ninth minute of the contest. 

The Hawks shut down the Statesmen to send them into the halftime break leading by one goal. Despite the Hawk's two-shot attempts in the second half, the Statesmen were forced to deny any Hawk scoring opportunities to seal the contest. 

The Shorter Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 18, when they host Mississippi College. 

Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm at Ben Brady Field.
