ROME, Ga. – The Shorter Hawks fell 8-4 to the No. 9 Columbus State University Cougars in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon at the Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex.
The Hawks are now 21-16 on the season while the Cougars improve to 34-6.
Shorter plated the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the first.
Logan Stockton singled through the left side to score
Lyndon Weaver for the inning's first run. Right after this, Stockton stole second and
Cory Mason stole home to plate the second run of the inning.
Columbus State responded and scored three runs in the top of the second to take the lead. The Cougars added to their lead in the top of the third by plating two additional runs.
The Hawks scored their next run in the home half of the third. Stockton reached first on a fielder's choice, and this scored
Donavan Frayer.
The Cougars plated their next run in the top of the fourth to make the score 6-3 Columbus State.
The score remained 6-3 Columbus State until the home half of the sixth when the Hawks plated their final run of the day.

Matt Christian.
Columbus State plated two more runs in the game, one in the top of the eighth and one in the top of the ninth.
Lyndon Weaver went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a walk in this afternoon's game.
Caleb McGinnis pitched an inning in relief for the Hawks and had one strikeout.
T.J. Laramie pitched 0.1 innings in relief, striking out one.
Luke Queen pitched 0.2 innings in relief, striking out one.
Jonathan Pintaro pitched two innings in relief, striking out three and giving up one run on two hits.
