VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Shorter Hawks fell 2-0 to the Valdosta State University Blazers in the series opener on Saturday afternoon. This afternoon's game was shortened due to lightning in the area.
The Hawks are now 14-8 on the season and 8-4 in Gulf South Conference (GSC) play. The Blazers improve to 14-5 on the season and 7-2 in GSC play.
Chad Davis started for the Hawks in today's game and tossed 4.1 innings, striking out three and giving up five hits.
Carson Cook (L, 2-3) threw an inning in relief and gave up two runs on five hits and a walk.
Ethan Hawthorne tossed 0.2 innings and had one strikeout.
The Blazers plated their two runs in the bottom of the sixth after EJ Doskow hit a two-run home run.
Isaac Harkins went 2-for-2 with a walk today for the Hawks.

Cory Mason and
Justin Barnes all went 1-for-3.
