ROME,Ga— The Shorter Volleyball team got their first win of the season against Valdosta State in a home conference series. The Hawks came out with a 3-0 win and Coach Sullivan gained her first win as a head coach. Before the game the Lady Hawks celebrated senior Iva Luther on her senior weekend and her last two games as a Hawk.
The Lady Hawks came out strong in the first set by scoring the first point of the set. The final score of set one was 25-23, set two 25-22 and then set three 25-19.
Luther scored the match point in sets one and two. The Hawks led with a total of six blocks. Katherine Patrick led the Hawks with a total of 12 kills. Valdosta's Caitlin Warnshuis had a game high of 14 kills. Madison Sprotsy and Taryn Cycholl added in 10 digs each.
The Hawks will finish out the tournament on Saturday against West Georgia with first serve slated for 2p.m.
