Hawks Fly Through #18 Lee Flames

ROME, Ga—The Hawks came out on top against 18th ranked Lee Flames with a final score of 78-71. Ricky Knight Jr. lead the team with 23 points going 4-6 in three-pointers.
 
Shorter adds another win to there overall record, 3-8 and while Lee falls to 8-2 on the season.
 
The Hawks came out and scored the basket of the game with a lay up from Knight. The Flames came back with a layup from Michael McGuirk followed by another layup from Quay Kennedy to take the lead and hold onto it. With 13:25 left on the clock in the first quarter the Hawks took the lead with a layup from Jay Shropshire. The Flames took back the lead with 6:20 left on the clock from a three pointer by Kennedy. The Flames kept the lead going into the half with a score of 39-30.
 
Coming out of the locker room the Flames had a scoring rally to continue their lead. Shorter caught up with 10:25 left on the clock by a free throw from Knight, 54-54. Then Shropshire hit a three-pointer to take the lead, 57-55. Lee attempted to come back by evening the score, 68-68 with 4:50 on the from a free throw by Kennedy but the Hawks came right back with a jumper from Ja'Cori Wilson. Throughout the last four minutes of the game the Hawks continued to keep their focus to keep the lead and win the game.
The Hawks had four players reach double digits in total points. Knight lead the team with 23 points, four rebounds and went 5-8 in field goals. Wilson had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Shropshire added in 15 points along with four rebounds and shot 3-5 in three-pointers. Rounding it out Jaden Dunham went 5-7 in field goals scoring a total of 10 points and seven rebounds. Lee's Beyuan Hendricks had a game high of 25 points and shot 9-13 in field goals.
 
The Hawks return back in action against #18 Lee Flames tomorrow, February 6th with tipoff slated for 2p.m.
