ROME, Ga. – The Shorter Hawks men's basketball team (3-9) fell 65-52 in a Gulf South Conference (GSC) game against the #18 Lee University Flames (9-2) on Saturday afternoon in the Winthrop-King Centre.
The Hawks scored the first 5 points of the game after a successful 3-point shot from Ja'Cori Wilson and a fast break jump shot from Jay Shropshire. Shorter kept the score close in the first half and was down 32-26 at halftime. Lee was in control in the second half and never surrendered the lead in the half.
Jay Shropshire led the way for the Hawks with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Kelan Walker scored 8 points and had 3 rebounds while Ricky Knight Jr. scored 7 points and had 5 rebounds.
Beyuan Hendricks led the way for the Flames with 21 points and 4 rebounds while Quay Kennedy scored 11 points and had 7 rebounds. Michael McGuirk scored 10 points for Lee.
The Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday, February 9 against Auburn University Montgomery with a 6 p.m. tip-off in the Winthrop-King Centre.
