ROME, Ga. – The Lady Hawks walked off the court for the last time this season at the Winthrop-King Centre with a 72-63 win over Auburn University at Montgomery (2-11) and earned their third-straight victory in the process.
The first half was filled with back-and-forth action, and the scoreboard read 34-34 as the halftime buzzer sounded. However, the second half saw Shorter take control of the game, as the Lady Hawks scored seven unanswered points to start the third period, and a Christian Bolden jump-shot stretched the Shorter lead to 19 at 60-41 with 2:09 left in the third quarter. The Lady Hawks never looked back from there and ultimately secured the 72-63 win.
AUM's Catlin Carter put up a game-high 19 points (75 percent shooting) and seven rebounds, but it was not enough to change the ultimate outcome of the game. Teammate Jamya Tyus added 15.
Jasmine Gaines paced Shorter with 18 points on the night to go along with her four assists, three rebounds and a steal. Chatham Brown finished second on the Lady Hawks in scoring with 14 points and also added an assist, six rebounds, two steals and three rebounds. Shorter's Ansley Barge led the team on the boards with nine rebounds.
The Lady Hawks (5-13) will be back in action on Friday, as they will travel to the University of Montevallo to take on the Lady Falcons at 7 p.m.
