ROME, Ga. -- The Shorter Lady Hawks dropped Tuesday's home game to Auburn University Montgomery by a score of 70-55.
Catlin Carter's double-double for AUM helped the Lady Warhawks get their first win of the season on Tuesday. Carter scored a game-high 28 points and accounted for 11 rebounds. Teammate Jamya Tyus finished with 12 points to go along with her seven rebounds.
The Lady Hawks (2-13) found themselves in a tight one with AUM and only trailed 36-30 at the half. However, the Lady Warhawks (1-9) slowly started distancing themselves in the latter part of the third quarter and stayed in charge in the fourth.
The 24-point scoring performance of Shorter's Jasmine Gaines stood out as a bright spot for the Lady Hawks in the loss. She also accounted for three assists, three steals and six rebounds. Kelly Pickett finished second in scoring on the team with 16 points. Julia Peroni led the team on the boards with seven rebounds.
The Lady Hawks have a chance to get the bad taste of this loss out of their mouths quickly, as they are back in action on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Winthrop-King Centre against GSC foe West Georgia.Â
