LIVINGSTON, Ala.—The Shorter Women's Basketball team travelled to University of West Alabama for a conference matchup before the Christmas break. The Lady Hawks came up short against the Tigers with a final score of 83-68.
With the loss, Shorter falls to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in GSC while West Alabama improves to 8-3 and 2-1.
The Lady Hawks were up by 10 at half, 41-31, but the Tigers came out of the locker room with a layup from Jala Williams. With just a little over seven minutes left in the game the Tigers tied the game at 60. Then went on a scoring frenzy to score 10 points in three minutes. Unfortunately, the Lady Hawks were unable to make a comeback after the scoring run.
Kelly Pickett had a team high of 22 points while
Jasmine Gaines added in 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Hawks will start their Christmas break and return back to the Winthrop King Centre with a non- conference matchup against Georgia College on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) with tipoff slated for 4p.m.
