Lady Hawks end 2021 with a Win

ROME, Ga.—The Lady Hawks played nonconference opponent Georgia College and took away the 81-63 win on New Year's Eve.

With the win the Hawks improve to 2-6 while the Bobcats fall to 4-7.

Shorter came out strong from the Christmas Break with first period score of 15-12.

At the half, the Lady Hawks led 41-24 with Jasmine Gaines accounting for 11 of those points followed by Kelly Pickett with nine and Azaria Howard with eight points.
After the third period, Shorter has kept the lead with a score of 58-45.

Leading scorers for the Lady Hawks include Pickett with 19 points, Ansley Barge and Gaines with 15 along with Howard adding in 14 points. As a team, Shorter hit 11-22 on three's and a total of 11 steals. 

For Georgia College, Ashyia Willis led the game with a total of 27 points and three steals.

The Lady Hawks will head to University of Montevallo to start back conference play on January 2nd with tipoff slated for 3pm.
