Blazers Fire at The Hawks

ROME, Ga. – The Shorter women's basketball team (1-7) fell 68-48 in a conference game against undefeated Valdosta State (7-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Winthrop-King Centre.

The Lady Hawks had a slow start in the game and were down 37-8 at the half. However, by the end of the third quarter, Shorter had rebounded and was only down 54-36 as a result of being 10 for 12 at the free throw line.

Jasmine Gaines led the way for the Lady Hawks and scored 18 points and had 9 rebounds in the game. Julia Peroni had 8 points and 8 rebounds while Alicyn McCollum scored 4 points.

Kwajelin Farrar led the way for Valdosta State with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Alexandria Smith scored 16 points.

The Lady Hawks return to action on Friday, January 15 against Auburn University Montgomery with a 6 p.m. tip-off in the Winthrop-King Centre.
