VALDOSTA, GA – The Lady Hawks (1-9) lose a tough one on the road in conference play Friday evening at Valdosta State (10-1). Jasmine Gaines led the Lady Hawks as she led the team in points 13 and rebounded 8; she was assisted on the scoring side by Christian Bolden with 9 points and Chatham Brown with 8 points.
The Lady Blazers (10-1) came out with a dominating force from tipoff; they started with their foot on the gas and did not let off. They indeed looked like the #10 team in the nation, with their leading scorer Kendall Bolimer leading the Blazers with 18 points and supported by Kwajelin Farrar with a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
It was a hard-fought defeat for the Lady Hawks as they battled to the last second. They tied the Lady Blazes in points in the fourth quarter 17-17.
Coach Hughes and the Lady Hawks will regroup as they will face off again on Saturday afternoon against VSU.
