Hawks Couldn't Seem to Knock Off Undefeated #9 Valdosta

VALDOSTA, Ga.— The Shorter Men's basketball team struggled to keep up with #9 Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon with a final score of 86-70. 

With the Conference matchup the Hawks fall to 1-3 while Valdosta (5-0) remains undefeated. 

The Hawk started out with the first score of the game by a layup from Jay Shropshire but the Blazers quickly took the lead with a three-pointer by Cam Hamilton. Valdosta obtained the lead and kept it for the last 38 minutes of the game. 

Charles Botchway led the team with a game high of 19 points, two steals, and two rebounds. Kelan Walker followed behind with a total of 16 points, four rebounds, and two assists. The Hawks had two other players hit double digits which included Jay Shropshire and Jaden Dunham who both added in 10 points. The leading scorer for Valdosta was Imoras Agee with a total of 18 points while teammate Jakari Gallon contributed 17 points. 

The Hawks will head to Montgomery, Ala. next weekend for a matchup against Auburn University Montgomery on January 15 and 16 with Fridays tipoff set for 6p.m.
