Game 2 of Saturday's double header was back and forth between the Shorter Hawks (7-1,1-1) and the Valdosta State Blazers (4-3,1-1).

The first three innings of game 2 was a pitcher's duel between Shorter starter Jonathon Pintaro and Valdosta State starter Zach Blankenship. The Blazers struck first in the bottom of the 4
th when Logan Stephens hit an RBI double that scored Nick Lewis. Jisjar Clotida grounded out to Shorter short stop
Jakob Woods later in the 4
th inning to score Alec Aleywine, giving the Blazers a 2-0 advantage.

The Hawks struck back in the top of the 5
th when
Bailey Gerstner hit an RBI ground out to second that scored
Aaron Reardon.
Justin Barnes scored later in the inning on a double steal, Barnes stole home and
Luis Acevedo stole second, tying the score at 2-2.

Valdosta State scored two in the bottom of the 5
th inning on a two run home run to right field by Alec Aleywine, giving the Blazers the advantage once again at 4-2.

However, Shorter rallied in the 7
th inning. Reardon hit a single to lead off the top of the 7
th for the Hawks. Gerstner then walked with 1 out in the inning, and
Ivan Nunez pinch ran for him.
Michael Avendano then hit an RBI single to left that scored Reardon making the score 4-3, Nunez also advanced to third base on the throw. Acevedo then scored Nunez on a squeeze bunt tying the score at 4-4, and advancing Avendano to second.
Justin Guyton was then intentionally walked, setting the stage for
Cory Mason.

Mason hit a two out single to right field that scored Avendano giving the Hawks the lead at 5-4, Guyton went to third and Mason advanced to second on the throw in from the outfield. Woods followed up Mason's single with a two RBI single of his own extending the Hawks lead to 7-4.

Pintaro went all 7 innings on the mound for the Hawks, giving up 4 runs, all earned, and striking out 9.

Shorter and Valdosta State will play the rubber match of the series on Sunday. First pitch has been moved up to 10 am eastern time due to the threat of weather later in the day.
